So that even the littlest ones can decorate and craft with just a little help, we have instructions for you that are ideal for all ages. Ready, set, and craft!

Personalized Christmas cards

To bring even more joy and contemplation to the Advent season, you can easily craft personalized Christmas cards with your child. Without any frills or complicated instructions, you'll create the most beautiful creations. Try it out:

What you need:

  • Craft paper or construction paper in dark, Christmas colors
  • Finger or watercolor paints
  • Optional pictures of you or your child

How it works:

Cut the construction paper to A5 size. Now glue a picture onto the card or write your child's name, "Merry Christmas," or other greetings in simple lettering. Your child can then color in. On the other side, draw a Christmas tree or a star. Your child can then use watercolors or finger paints to leave small fingerprints on the drawing, filling it in with color. These beautiful and personalized Christmas cards are ready.

Upcycling Christmas tree decorations

Who says a Christmas tree always has to be decorated in red and gold? We're sure kids have their own creative DIY tree decoration ideas for what the perfect Christmas decorations should look like. A great upcycling idea for Christmas trees, which is also super sustainable, requires absolutely nothing you don't already have at home. Let your child choose the color and see what colorful splendor your Christmas decorations will shine with.

What you need:

  • Empty rolls of toilet paper or kitchen roll
  • Watercolors
  • String or wool

How it works:

Let your child paint the rolls in the colors of their choice. This can be super bright or in classic Christmas colors. You might even want to add a bit of glitter to the Christmas tree with gold and silver pens. Now cut the rolls into even strips of about 0.5 cm to create small rings. You can now flatten the rings and glue the ends together to form a star. Using a piece of string or wool, the resulting tree decoration can be easily hung on the Christmas tree.

Advent wreath from a can

The Advent wreath will accompany you and your family until Christmas. It's all the more beautiful when it's decorated and crafted by children. There are many different instructions available: simple arrangements with branches, tied fir branches and pine cones, or a very minimalistic four candles without decorations. Our instructions are intended to be fun for children, so we've chosen a simple Advent wreath that will accompany you for many Christmases to come.

What you need:

  • 4 old cans, preferably in different sizes
  • A nail
  • A hammer
  • Heat-resistant colors
  • Pine cones and branches for decoration

How it works:

Old cans accumulate quickly. To children's delight, there are countless ideas and instructions for upcycling old cans, for example, into a contemplative Advent wreath. To make these boring cans into beautiful Advent decorations, they first need to be rinsed out and their labels removed. Now it gets more difficult, and children may need adult help: Using a nail and a hammer, you can now punch a hole pattern into the cans, for example, poinsettias or the numbers 1-4. Make sure you always work from the outside in so no one cuts themselves on the sharp metal. If you like, you can paint the cans now, but even without paint, the shiny metal is still a sight to behold. Equipped with candles, this wreath brings a wonderful glow to the Christmas season. Decorate your cans with pine cones and branches, for example, on a tray or small table. When the candles are lit, your stars will create a beautiful pattern on the wall.

Christmas decorations: perfectly imperfect

When crafting with children, it's not about perfect DIY ideas or winning prizes for the Christmas decorations. It's about the fun of crafting, the time spent together, and decorating together as a family. For example, it's a good idea to fill your children's Advent calendars with shared activities and crafts, rather than small items and sweets. The most amazing DIY gifts can be conjured up from corks, cans, jars, and the like. Wire reindeer, paper stars, homemade wrapping paper – and none of them have to be perfect. On the contrary: These gift ideas come from the heart. And that's what makes them particularly imperfectly perfect.

We'd love to share some great new craft ideas for the Christmas season with your kids. Bring the magic of Christmas into your home and let us share in the fun. We'd love to see lots of great photos of your children's homemade Christmas decorations.
